MANAS CENTRE run by SOCIETY FOR MENTAL HEALTH ,KERALA is a rehabilitation centre for controlled mentally ill persons. The founder of this centre was Late Mr. Tamton Abdul Azeez who was a leading business personality in Kozhikode. Way back in 1986 with the support of eminent personalities, doctors and psychiatrists of Kozhikode the Society was formed. Mr.Azeez who was a man with a vision and who was driven by his zest to do something meaningful for the marginalized persons of the society was the first secretary. Mr. Azeez was driven by the awareness of the sufferings and plight of these persons who were marginalized by their families and the society. Azeez got a man-Friday, the Late Mr.Devasya who had nothing else in his mind but only Manas Centre all through his life. Step by step this has grown into a rehabilitation centre of repute with all amenities and very dedicated and expert staff accommodating 30 residents today. The only aim of the Society is the welfare of the residents and the members of the society and the team of the managing committee see to that it is always on the right track as they want.
